Maybe Ford made a mistake to reveal the awesome new Shelby GT350R Mustang after the new Ford GT, as the supercar kind of overshadowed the Mustang, as it did everything else at NAIAS. But now that the dust is settling on the GT, we are starting to appreciate the Shelby ‘Stang more and more.

One designer, who is well known in the auto world under the pseudonym X-Tomi, has gone one step further than appreciation and rendered an option-top version of the car. The Shelby GT350R Convertible Tom has come up with looks a lot more fantastic than the coupe, simply because it has more drama.

Convertible Mustangs have always been good-looking cars, even in their most basic format. So it’s no wonder why this Shelby GT350R Convertible looks so amazing, as it is the farthest thing from a basic Mustang. It comes with custom grilles, an aero kit with splitters and wings and stuff, and a unique paint job with Shelby stripes.

And then there is that engine, a 5.2-liter dual-overhead-cam V8 engine with more than 500 horsepower and more than 400 lb.-ft. of torque, supported by high-performance transmission, axles and differential. This thing is a muscle car enthusiast’s wet dream!
