In preparation for the launch of the new Shelby Mustang GT350R at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show (NAIAS), our colleagues at Top Speed have commissioned this fantastic rendering to give you an early look at the beastly new ‘Stang.

The Shelby Mustang GT350R is for those who are not satisfied with the oomph offered by the standard 5.0 GT variant, which is saying something, as that car packs a 430 horsepower punch. The GT350 boasts much greater levels of performance, pushing the output beyond 500 horsepower, and reducing the 0-60 time to around 3.5 seconds. That’s proper pony car performance.

What we like most about the Shelby Mustang GT350R, though, is the way it looks. Well, at least if this rendering is anything to goy by. Compared to the standard Mustang, the GT350R features a massive front splitter, larger air intakes, a sculpted, vented hood, side skirts, rear wing, and, presumably, a huge rear diffuser. All the evidence suggest that with this car, Ford has the Camaro Z/28 in its sights.

Still, if for whatever reason you don’t like what you are seeing here, don’t despair. There will countless variants of the Mustang over the next few years, with all sorts of power outputs and visual features, offering something for everyone.
