Chevrolet will bring to this year’s New York Auto Show a number of all-new models, all of them family sedans and hatchbacks. After teasing us with a dark image of the new Malibu, they have now released the first official shot of the 2016 Chevrolet Spark.

Granted, all you can discern from this picture is the silhouette of the 2016 Chevrolet Spark. But the shot also gives away some of the styling features of the car at the front, such as the new and more serious looking headlights and Chevy’s double front grille which is seen these days on most of their mid-range products.

In describing the 2016 Chevrolet Spark, GM uses words like “sleek,” “aerodynamic,” and “sophisticated.” The car might well have all those qualities, but to be honest those are big words for such a small and relatively inexpensive car. All the new Spark has to be in order to sell in good numbers is to be cheap and cheerful!

“The new Spark’s design has evolved and grown up with the segment,” said Michael Simcoe, GM International vice president of Design. “The youthful whimsy of the original Spark is still in its genes, but it is conveyed in more traditional proportions that reinforce the customer’s refined expectations.”
