As we told you when reporting on the new Porsche 991 GT3 RS online configurator, the car is available with some peculiar colors, among them this unique shade of purple. We are not big fans of showy colors, but we have to say, purple looks rather good on the RS.
This purple Porsche 991 GT3 RS, which judging by its lack of proper badging must be a test unit or something like that, shows off not just its interesting color – which is actually a classic Porsche color discontinued years ago for obvious reasons – but also all the design elements that set the RS apart from the regular GT3.
Among the main styling elements separating the two GT3s we can mention the distinctive fender vents on the RS, its giant racing rear wing, engine cover, and larger aero components on the front and sides of the car. We still cannot get over the fact that most of the new stuff on the RS are plastic and very cheap-looking.
In terms of the technicalities, the 2016 Porsche 991 GT3 RS comes with the same engine as the normal GT3, only here it is rated at 500 horsepower. That, combined with lighter weight and more aggressive suspension tuning and electronics, makes the RS a more formidable weapon on the race track.
