British sports car maker Ultima, best known for the Ultima GTR and Can-Am models, announced the launch of a new track-focused, road-legal model called Ultima Evolution. True to its name, the latest Ultima is faster, more powerful, and handsomer than its predecessor. You can even order it as a convertible.
Actually, if you want your Ultima Evolution to be faster than the previous models, you have to spec it correctly. You see, the car is offered with a Chevrolet V8 LS engine with a wide range of power outputs from 350 to 1,020 horsepower. And there are 13 more numbers you can have the engine tuned at between those two figures.
Of course, if money is no object to you, you should go for the most powerful 1,020 horsepower version, which, combined with the 950 kg dry weight of the vehicle, results in blistering performance with a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time of 2.3 seconds and a top speed of 380 km/h or 240 mph. It is going to be a bit of a handful though, especially as Ultima Evolution comes only with a six-speed manual gearbox bought from Porsche.
“The Evolution takes the Ultima to even greater levels of fit, finish, quality and performance. The Evolution is a vastly improved and modernised car in every sense compared to the GTR and Can-Am, and makes an awesome package. Many of the enhancements found on the new Ultima Evolution have been stimulated by worldwide customer demand and feedback,” says Ultima.
