The new generation Mazda MX-5 is yet to hit the showrooms and fall into the hands of tuners who promise they can improve Mazda’s recipe by adding more power to the mix. We are also eager to see what they have in mind for this car styling-wise. This rendering of a Mazda MX-5 wide body explores what can be achieved.
We are not entirely sure if it is cool to widen a small open-top sports car like the MX-5, but we have to admit what we see in the rendering looks pretty cool. Not only has the designer installed a set of extremely wide fenders to the Japanese roadster, he has also given it completely custom bumpers and side skirts, lowered it, and bolted on a set of after market wheels.
The virtual Mazda MX-5 wide body also appears to be a sporting a massive aftermarket radiator which could be the interpreted as the sign of some serious engine modifications. We’re guessing a turbocharger and an intercooler, and of course a sport exhaust system. Mazda recently announced that they have no plans to launch a hotted-up version of the MX-5 anytime soon. So it’s up to the tuners the world over to fulfill the fantasies of this car’s customers.
