A new version of Top Gear’s Reasonably Priced Car, the British-built Vauxhall Astra, will make its debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA) next month. The biggest highlight of the 2016modelyear Astra will be the addition of OnStar technology which is a first for a European model.
Already an indispensable part of GM products in America, OnStar offers a range of very handy communication, security, and connectivity features, including high-speed 4G LTE mobile network, emergency response notification and stolen vehicle recovery technology. It makes the new Vauxhall Astra, which also comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto through a new version of the IntelliLink infotainment system, very appealing to the tech savvy customers in Britain.
Apart from that, other updates include refreshed styling with a new grille and subtle touches here and there. The new Vauxhall Astra also comes with a range of good petrol and diesel engines with power outputs ranging from 100PS to 200PS. The list also includes an all-new 1.4-litre (145PS) ECOTEC Direct Injection Turbo.
“The all-new Brit-built Astra raises the bar in terms of quality, design and connectivity,” said Tim Tozer, Vauxhall’s Chairman and Managing Director. “Lighter than ever before, with new powertrains and cutting-edge technology including OnStar, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto technology, the new Astra looks set to shake up the C-segment when it arrives in showrooms this autumn.”
