Now that the new Ferrari 488 GTB has been launched, its Spider version announced, and the work is underway on a Speciale version, it’s time for the company’s motorsport division to start thinking about a racing version of this car. Jon Sibal has done some of that thinking for them, penning this Ferrari 488 GT3 in full racing outfit.
It wasn’t hard for Jon to imagine what this future Ferrari 488 GT3 should look like. A quick look at its predecessor, the 458 GT3 provided the inspiration. So he equipped the car, virtually, with a massive racing aero kit and it was job done.
Ferrari 488 GT3 boasts a huge air splitter at the front, complemented with canards and under spoilers, channeling air in towards the side aero blades and from there to the side sir intakes. Meanwhile at the back a racing diffuser and an enormous adjustable wing take care the stability issues by producing huge lumps of downforce.
Other highlights of the racing 488 GT3 would include racing suspension, traction control and ABS, plus racing slicks and a lift system for the pit. Interestingly though, the GT3 would be less powerful than the road car as per FIA GT3 rules which limit the output of the engines.
