This year’s Tokyo Motor Show is full of wonderful new concept and design studies. But none has made quite the same buzz as the Mazda RX-Vision concept. The rotary-powered sports car is Mazda’s daring attempt at reviving their love affair with Wankel engine and it also looks very good, in both coupe and drop-top formats as you can see with this Mazda RX-Vision Roadster rendering.
Now, the Roadster looks to us like a much more enticing proposition since it looks, to all intents and purposes, like a first-gen Dodge Viper. Think about – a rotary-engined Viper-looking Japanese sports car… not that’s quite a recipe!
Of course, this is nothing more than day dreaming. Mazda has said in no uncertain terms that the RX-vision is very much a concept for now and there is no plan whatsoever to put it into production. But you can never underestimate the effect of peer pressure. We just hope that if they were pressured into making this concept, it’d be the Mazda RX-Vision Roadster they produce because it is just so much more awesome than the hardtop.
This rendering is a work of X-Tomi Design who also seems to have taken liberties with the windscreen and has chopped it a little bit. Well, when it works, it works!
