Motor Trend has always been the one source to check for proper head to head battle between the latest muscle cars. This time they have staged a super test between the latest, greatest versions of two muscle car icons, the 2016 Shelby GT350R Mustang vs 2015 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.

This being Motor Trend, you get the usual battery of evaluations including road tests, lap times, and drag race, but also a good deal of horsing around by the presenters which makes the whole thing more fun to watch:

Just to quickly recap on the specs and details of these cars, the Shelby GT350R is a complete bargain at around $67,000, packing 526 horsepower compared with the Camaro’s 505 horsepower and $76,000 price tag. Both cars have six-speed manual gearbox – because muscle car – and they are both rear-wheel-drive – again, because muscle car. In the end I reckon it comes down to brand loyalty and just which one of these you think is better looking.
