In a late and frankly lousy effort to ride the Star Wars wave, Chevrolet has released a special blacked-out version of the Trax which they say is inspired by the “dark side.” The 2016 Chevrolet Trax Midnight Edition comes with unique visual upgrades.
Offered as a $500 package for the LTZ models ($26,125 MSRP), Chevrolet Trax Midnight Edition comes with black wheels, bezels, beltline molding and door handles, along with a black rear license plate applique. Interior highlights include gray accented seat upholstery and the floor mats with gray piping. And that’s about it.
Being a LTZ, Chevrolet Trax Midnight Edition does get a good amount of kit as standard, but the really good stuff like the 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot is still an optional extra. Power comes from a 1.4L turbocharged engine which in front wheel drive models can manage up to 34 mpg. This car really isn’t a very intriguing proposition. And don’t listen to what Chevy says.
“Introduced just a year ago, the Trax has quickly become an important vehicle for Chevrolet, bringing in new, younger and more female buyers to the brand,” said Betsy Flegg, senior marketing manager, Chevrolet Crossovers. “The small SUV segment is the fastest growing in the industry and models such as the new Trax Midnight Edition provides customers an expressive option.”
