Chevrolet released the first pictures and details of a new hatchback version of the Cruze ahead of the car’s official debut at the North American International Auto Show. The 2017 Chevrolet Cruze Hatch will go on sale in Fall, boasting new looks and upgraded features.
The main highlights of the new Chevrolet Cruze Hatch on the outside is the pointy new look that reminds us a little of Honda Civic and Kia Cee’d. Not that it’s a necessarily bad thing. The hatchback looks reasonably sporty with wraparound taillamps and an integrated roof spoiler, and, more importantly, it is 200 pounds (91 kg) lighter than the previous-generation model while being more spacious and more practical. You get 18.5 cubic feet (524 liters) of cargo space behind the rear seat, expandable to 42 cubic feet (1,189 liters).
As for the technology highlights and interior features, 2017 Chevrolet Cruze Hatch comes as standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility via the MyLink radio systems and available 4G LTE with Wi-Fi hotspot. Depending on the model, it can also be specified with heated steering wheel, heated front and rear seats, Athens leather-appointed seating surfaces, true French seams and halogen projectors, as well as Lane Keep Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Side Blind Zone Alert and Rear Park Assist.
The engine of choice for the new Cruze Hatch is a 1.4L turbo unit with direct injection and Stop/Start technologies. The car Z-link rear suspension on select model and electric steering wheel. Another notable highlight is the availability of an RS package, featuring unique front and rear fascias, rocker panels, rear spoiler, fog lamps and – on the Premier model – 18-inch wheels.
