One of the most sensational cars of this year’s Detroit Motor Show is without a doubt the new Lexus LC 500. The swish new coupe has now been turned into a sexy convertible in this rendering. This is what Lexus LC 500 Cabrio may look like if they ever build one.
Granted, the car doesn’t look as good in this picture as one would expect a drop-top LC 500 should, and the rear seat area seem to be done in a bit of a hurry. But still, the idea of a Lexus LC 500 Cabrio is intriguing enough for you to just gloss over these niggles and enjoy the cool styling. Lexus should really consider building this car.
The production LC is powered by the same 5.0 liter V8 engine you find in the RC F and GS F with 467 hp and 389 lb.-ft. of torque, but it’s mated to a newly developed 10-speed automatic transmission. Will that result in a more engaging drive than that of the RC F? That remains to be seen.
“The LC 500 has been an important product for Lexus and me personally,” said Akio Toyoda, Chief Branding Officer and Master Driver for Lexus. “A few years ago, we decided to guide the future of the brand with products that had more passion and distinction in the luxury market. This flagship luxury coupe’s proportions, stunning design and performance make a strong statement about our brand’s emotional direction and will grow the Lexus luxury appeal globally.”
