The new Ford GT super car is finally put on sale, but in an unusual way. The amazing new performance machine is limited to just 500 copies, and Ford is accepting applications for it via a dedicated website FordGT.com. That means your chance of getting one is practically nought.
Those who have managed to get their applications in at the right time were offered a spin in the new Ford GT online configurator where they got to customize the visual details of the car. The thing is, the GT is probably the most hyped car to be launched this year, and the demand for it is way larger than the 500 units (for the first two years) being produced. So a lot of people are going to be left out, waiting to snatch one up in the open market for massive premiums over the factory price which, at mid-$400,000s, is pretty high itself.
In related news, a Ford GT race car lapped the Silverstone track in the United Kingdom, but not the way you would expect it to be. It was a continuation of the former publicity stunt in which a Ford GT was put in a glass box on the back of a lorry and taken around London. This time they went around a “Silverstone” circuit replica, taking in London landmarks.
It took two hours and 11.9-mile to complete the lap through congested central London traffic, but it offered passers-by a good look at the racing GT.
