The Brits, as you may know, love and adore open-top sports car, which is curious because they have like one day in the whole year with enough sun to justify owning a roadster. But anyway, they’re chuffed to bits these days because the new Fiat 124 Spider is about to hit Blighty in three different trim levels.
The UK-spec Fiat 124 Spider is pretty much as the American version whose pricing and specs we reported a while back, except Britain does not get the Abarth version, at least for now, which is a real bummer. The base version will be the Classica which starts at £19,545 on-the-road, followed by Lusso for £22,295 and Lusso Plus for£23,295.
The standard kit on the 2017 Fiat 124 Spider includes four airbags, air conditioning, a leather-trimmed steering wheel with audio controls, a leather-trimmed gear knob, cruise control with speed limiter, 16-inch alloy wheels, keyless engine start and a powerful infotainment system with USB, AUX and Bluetooth connectivity. An infotainment with USB and WiFi is available for 500 quid.
Moving up to Lusso trim you get the seven-inch infotainment system as standard, plus satellite navigation with 3D maps and the Parkview rear parking camera, 17-inch alloy wheels, heated leather upholstery, automatic climate control, front fog lamps, keyless entry, chrome exhaust tips and a premium silver finish on the windscreen frame and rollover bars. The Plus adds daptive LED headlamps, LED DRLs, automatic lights and wipers and a nine-speaker BOSE sound system.
All version of the Fiat 124 in the UK are powered by a 1.4 liter MultiAir Turbo four-pot developing 140hp and 240Nm of torque. If this thing doesn’t float your boat, and you don’t like its sister car the new MX-5, then you’re going to have to wait for the new Honda S2000 to arrive.
