Complementing their current lineup of not-so-pretty but extremely functional SUVs, Subaru unveiled at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show a new 7-seat SUV concept previewing a future production model. Apart from its god-awful name, Subaru VIZIV-7 seems almost ready to make the jump from the concept realm into reality.
Subaru VIZIV-7 Concept follows the same kind of design traditions we have come to know and like in the Impreza concepts the company lobs at us every once in a while. Subaru calls it the “DYNAMIC x SOLID design philosophy” which in plain English means the thing looks like a regular Subaru only more muscular with many of its feature exaggerated for the sake of the show. The VIZIV-7 is a sizable thing at 5,200 × 2,030 × 1860 mm with a 2,990 mm wheelbase, and it has full three-row capability.
We do hope to see Subaru VIZIV-7 in production sometime soon, but perhaps with a better name and hopefully a powerful engine relative to the size of the car. “The concept expresses our core brand values, safety, dependability, capability for outdoor activities and a forward-looking attitude,” said Takeshi Tachimori, Corporate Executive Vice President, Fuji Heavy Industries, LTD. “We know customers in this segment want a full-sized vehicle and the next 3-row from Subaru will be the biggest Subaru vehicle ever.”
