So when they saw that a day after unveiling the new face-lifted Mustang a rendering of the convertible version emerged and it was spot on, Ford decided not to beat around bush and released the first images of the car along with the initial specs. This is the 2018 Ford Mustang Convertible facelift going on sale in North America this fall.

Looks-wise, the car is pretty much what everybody was expecting and saw in that rendering. The new 2018 Ford Mustang Convertible gets the same front and rear design as the hardtop, which is fresh but somewhat controversial in some of its features… like how pointy some of its bits are. At any rate, the new car also gets the new customization options, including new paint colors, 12 distinct wheel choices and a customizable digital instrument cluster.

Just like the hardtop, the 2018 Ford Mustang Convertible no longer comes with a V6 but the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine and 5.0-liter V8 have both received power upgrades and there is now the option of MagneRide suspension. Gone are the days of the live rear axle. Other available new options include a 10-speed automatic transmission, active valve exhaust, MyMode with memory function that remembers your driving preferences for the next time you drive, Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection.
