Not that long ago the name ‘Lexus’ was associated with the dullest, most boring cars on the planet. This annoyed the company’s brass who believed they are perfectly capable of making exciting cars. So they launched an initiative to do so, and now a few years after that you just look silly if you call their cars boring.

Their latest YouTube ad puts this fact into perspective by showing Lexus’ playful side in a clever commercial that starts out boring but turns into one of the most exciting videos you’ll watch all day. In it, we get to see a Solar Flare Lexus RC F pulling some monster donuts promoting… well to be honest we fast forwarded to the donuts and don’t know what it promotes!

The Lexus RC F in this footage boast an amazing new color called Solar Flare. It was named in a Facebook poll by Lexus fans and looks awesome in the flesh. Mechanically, the RC F is a beast of a car, featuring a 450 horsepower V8 engine mated to a trick diff and transmission. The only trouble with this car is that it’s more expensive than BMW M4. Not sure if clever ads like this are enough to drive people away from Bavaria’s finest.
