2014 Detroit Motor Show will see the launch of the first hotted-up version of the new Corvette Stingray in form of the new Z06. We have been hearing a lot about the new ‘Vette this past couple of days, and now we have this rendering showing us what the 2015 Z06 might look like when it is finally revealed this Monday.
If the previous Corvette Z06 is any indication, the car should get a subtle aero kit, a few extra air vents here and there, and some larger wheels. It’s all here. What sets the Corvette Z06 Stingray apart, though, is the fact the aero kit will come in clear carbon fiber. Carbon is also used for the bonnet, as with the standard Stingray, and the roof too will, probably, be made of the exotic material.
So styling-wise, the 2015 Corvette Z06 Stingray will be very similar to what you can see here in this rendering by our colleagues from TopSpeed.
The more important matter about the new Z06 is the technicalities. As you may remember, a few days ago Chevy, either intentionally or by accident, leaked some information about the Z06’s specs on Google. It was the first time a car maker used search engine metadata to tease a product. That info revealed the new Z06 will have 620 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque – a significant increase over the standard Stingray’s 450/450. This fuels the rumors that the Z06 is powered by a different engine than the LT1 V8 found in the normal models. It is something super or turbocharged. We shall find out soon enough.
