Motorsport Magazine staged a sports car battle royale between BMW M4, Corvette C7 Stingray, and Porsche Cayman GTS. It is not exactly about their performance, but rather how they sound when you push them to the limit of their performance.

It is hard to pick a winner from this lot, mainly because they all sound so sweet. Also, everyone’s idea of best exhaust noise is different. Some like the deep rumble of the Corvette’s V8 engine, while some other prefer the iconic noise of the flat engine in the Porsche. The M4’s soundtrack, while artificially enhanced, is also good.

As for the technical information, BMW M4 boasts a 3.0 liter straight-six engine with a couple of turbochargers capable of developing 430 horsepower. The Corvette C7 has a 6.2 liter V8 engine called the LT1 and despite its massive size – compared to the Bimmer’s engine – it makes 450 horsepower because it’s naturally-aspirated. Porsche Cayman GTS is the purest sports car among these three, powered by a 3.4 liter flat-six engine developing 340 horsepower. It is way underpowered compared to the M4 and C7, but thanks to brilliant engineering it is the best to drive and probably fastest around the race track.
