Ford themselves does not like to play the Le Mans card in promoting the new Ford GT super car. The past is the past and they want to leave it at that. But the fans wouldn’t have it. They want a new Ford GT Le Mans racer, even if it’s virtual!

This Ford GT Le Mans Prototype (LMP) you see here is a rendering by the guys from rc82 workchop, and a very good one at that. They took the standard GT and added a plethora of racing aero parts, revised panels, and huge racing slicks. To top it all off, they’ve also applied a cool Gulf livery to the finished product.

The story of Ford GT Le Mans race cars is one of the most interesting stories of the automotive world. You probably know about it, but just to refresh your memory, years ago Enzo Ferrari infuriated Ford by pulling out of a merger deal in the last minute, making the American swear he will take revenge on the arrogant Italian where it most hurt him: Le Mans. So Ford’s best engineers were tasked to make a race car that will not only beat the Ferraris at Le Mans, but absolutely humiliate them. And so the Ford GT was born, and it did a damn good job of kicking Ferrari’s ass for years on end.

Should the Blue Oval decide to rekindle the rivalry with a Ford GT Le Mans Prototype race car, the car could look something like this. And it would be going up against Ferrari’s magnificent new LMP1 contender.
