Every once in a while Jay Leno’s Garage becomes a place for tuners and small car makers to introduce their products to the public through a medium that sometimes reaches more audience than an official press release. Last week we Jay giving us the skinny on the Fab Four Legend. Now let’s join him as he checks out the latest derelict restomod, the ICON Derelict 1948 Buick Super Convertible.

Built by ICON, who specializes in modernizing iconic classics and whose previous derelict car became a world sensation, the 1948 Buick Super Convertible is super trendy in the sense that it looks like a beaten up 40s car, but underneath it’s an almost brand-new Chevy:

The engine powering this beast is a 700 horsepower LS9 V8 from Corvette C6 ZR1 complete with appropriate running gear. The looks though, crucially, remain untouched. In fact, ICON may have deliberately added a few scares and bruises here and there to add to the visual drama of this car!
