So yesterday we brought you the first pictures of the new 2018 Ford Mustang facelift. Now Ford has released more official images along with some technical details on the new model, but let’s continue our exploration of the new ‘Stang with an early look at what the convertible version will look like when it arrives in a year or so.

Penned based on the GT version of the Ford Mustang facelift, the convertible version you see here is pretty much the real deal, unless in the time they have until the release of this model Ford cave into the criticisms already started pouring in regarding the looks of the new car and decide to patch the facelift in some way. But that is unlikely and what you see here is almost certainly what you’ll get. So if you want to give the Camaro Convertible a chance you can start researching that now.

As for the technical details of the new Ford Mustang, well, the V6 version was deemed pointless and is dropped in this modelyear. Instead they have given the 5.0 liter V8 in the GT a slight bump in power along with a reworked manual gearbox featuring a twin-disc clutch and dual-mass flywheel to increase torque capability. There is also a new 10-speed automatic transmission, available with both EcoBoost and V8 engines. You also get a 12-inch all-digital instrument cluster which is customizable and Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection. Performance figures are yet to be revealed.
